F.U.N Lacquer - Birthday Collection // 24 Karat Diamond Duo

0
0
Hi everyone! :) Today I'm back with the last part of the Birthday Collection by F.U.N Lacquer! The set is the 24 Karat Diamond Duo :) I previously blogged about the Galaxy Duo and Honey Bear Duo from the same release, and in the top of the first post I told you a little bit about the whole collection :)

24 Karat Diamond is a holographic silver glitter polish! The type of glitter used here is of higher quality than standard glitter, so it's supposed to be extremely sparkly! I'm 100% convinced :) This is 3 coats, I think the formula is amazing and the drying time really fast!

24 Karat Diamond (H) is a holographic silver glitter polish with added spectraflair! OMG... I'm in love! When you thought it couldn't get any more sparkly - this happens! :) My first thought was "unicorn poop", because it just looks so magical and supernatural! I don't know about the "poop" part, but when you put that word together with "unicorn" it becomes cute and beautiful - and awesome! Actually anything will if you do that; "unicorn barf", "unicorn farts", "unicorn... I dont know, pee?". Okay, going off on a tangent here - what I'm saying is, that I fricking love this thing, and I will wear it as if it was real diamonds, and bejewel my fingers on special occasions (or going grocery shopping). Again this is 3 coats, I really think the formula is fantastic and the drying time very fast! YAY! :)

This was the last duo of the Birthday Collection, and also the end of this round of a 42 km F.U.N Lacquer swatch-athon! I really am amazed by these nail polishes and this girl Yuin Ying, I can't believe she makes them herself by hand! I'm so grateful I get to swatch for her :)

Polishers Inc. - Something About Me // Blue Matte Chevron

Hi everyoneee! I'm so fricking excited! You guys, a few months ago I was invited by sweet Charlotte to join the most awesome nail art challenge group! We're called Polishers Inc. - because we're a group of addicted polishers, and Polishers Inc. sounds like polishers' ink, which is nail polish of course! ;)

Besides me, our group members are Charlotte (Chakalacquer.dk) Karine (Nailderella) Louise (Tips and Topcoat) Maria (rijah) Mina (Cubbiful) Tamit (fall in…naiLove!) Paulina (Paulina’s Passions) YAY!!!

We'll be posting a new nail design to each of our blogs the first Sunday of every month! We share a theme each time, but take our own spin on it, and I just know - I KNOW this will be epic. You definitely have something to look forward to!

Today is the first Sunday of May, and the challenge theme this time is Something About Me. This is probably the hardest theme we had for discussion, but it seemed so perfect as a kind of introductory challenge :)

I chose to recreate, not just a design, but THE design that started it all for me! It was my first real nail art that I posted to Instagram, and the response to it was so overwhelming to me. The fact that other people from around the world liked what I did, it made me really happy! I started doing more of it, and I think I've improved a lot since then! If anyone would like to see the original picture, I'll consider uploading it to this post, but I deleted it from my IG, because the cringe, man! The cringe, haha!

The original mani was done with the turquoise Where's My Chauffeur? by Essie, but this time I wanted to bring a more true Malene-ish color into it! Yeah, you guessed it - BLUE! This is Avenue Maintain also by Essie :) You know my nail art style is quite simplistic! So back then I did, and now I will, do chevrons with only one color - it requires a matte top coat and scotch tape criss-crossing skills :)

I hope you like the photos! Remember to check out the other girls' manis mkay? :)

See you soon!<3

Nail foils // Inspired by Katie Jane Hughes + Prabal Gurung

0
0
Hi everyone! Today's design is originally created by Butter London's global color ambassador - makeup artist and manicurist - Ms. Katie Jane Hughes. She's one of the leading ladies in nail artistry, and she's been such a huge source of inspiration to me ever since I started getting into nail fashion. Besides doing ground breaking work on an every day basis, she also travels to various fashion shows and teams up with top designers, where she creates original nail art for their fashion shows. This is particularly relevant to my blog post today, as my nail art is a humble recreation of one of those looks. It's taken from the Prabal Gurung SS14 runway show :) Since the first time I saw it, I just fell in love, and I knew I had to recreate it some day.

▲ How to do this ▲ (YUP without nail glue haha! I couldn't find mine, but I managed anyway)

  1. Prepare by cutting the nail foil into very narrow strips, exceeding the length of your nails.
I recommend doing double the amount of your nails, referring to step 4.
  2. Put on your base coat and one layer of your favorite nude color.
  3. While the nude color is still tacky, place the strips color-side up, press down gently, and pull off.
  4. If you need to reapply some foil for more color intensity, I found that dapping a bit of clear base coat where needed helps. Just repeat the process, using the extra foil strips you prepared.
  5. Finish off with a top coat, and you're good to go! Easy peasy! :)

The nail art I did is not identical to the original, as I think you can use whatever nail foils you have by hand to get the same sort of effect :) Now if you don't have any foils, you can get them so so so cheap off of www.bornprettystore.com - I can't believe they have so much awesome stuff there for close to no money! :) You know, I have great news - I can get y'all a little something something - a HOOK-UP! I got this amazing discount code to give to my sweet and good lookin' readers and followers!

Use the code LSJ61 to receive 10% off on every order you make from www.bornprettystore.com :)
Doesn't that just sound awesome!? You can thank me later lol! ;D

The specific products that I used today are the nail foils with the ID #5361 and in the colors #6, #7 and #13. That's the gradient-turquoise, blue and multi-colored foils :)

Polishers Inc. - Bling 'em Up! // Lilac Nail Art

Hi everyone! First of all, long time no see, huh? I've been taking a little time off - just enough to breathe in and out :) This very day is the 1st of June, the first Sunday of the month, and also the first frickin day of Summer, which means... Polishers Inc. nail art challenge! Today's theme is Bling 'em Up! and that basically means you have license to bling!

If you're new to my blog, then let me explain! Polishers Inc. is an all European nail art challenge group, and I'm lucky to be a part of it :) Every month on the first Sunday we do challenges inspired by different themes. Actually, some of the members do mid-month challenges as well (you're awesome girls!), but as of now, I don't participate in that, but I plan to do in the future! Check out last month's blue chevron mani here :)

Alright, channeling the bling through my own style, this is what I created :) I'm wearing As if! by NCLA, which is a super gorgeous pastel lilac creme. It's silky smooth, and actually applies very well for such a light creme - they tend to be patchy, but this one's great! I used 2 coats for my manicure :) Afterwards I popped out some silver rhinestones and voilà! :)

I literally just received these pretty rhinestones from www.bornprettystore.com yesterday! They came in a wheel and in 4 different sizes - here's the item ID: #12409 :) For this look I went with the two smallest sizes, yup, my nails are really tiny :) If you'd like to try some of these out, I've got the hook-up for you! Born Pretty Store gave me this amazing discount code to share with my sweet and good lookin' readers and followers!

Use the code LSJ61 to receive 10% off on every order you make from www.bornprettystore.com :)

F.U.N Lacquer - Summer 2014 Collection (MEGA POST)

0
0
Hi everyoneee! Today I'm bringing back F.U.N Lacquer! This is the 7 piece Summer 2014 Collection consisting of holographic lacquers, kind of giving us every color of the rainbow :) There's also such a cute little hidden message for us - the first letter of each nail polish name (except the bonus shade) together creates the word Summer :)

S - Starry Night of the Summer
U - Uniform for Summer: Bikini
M - Margarita Cocktail
M - Mowed Meadow
E - Evening Gown
R - Radiance

Bonus Shade - TGIF

Instead of showing you the nail polishes in that order, I'm going to do it in order of the color spectrum of a rainbow! :) So I'm starting with red and ending with violet - well pink in this case :)

// Please be sure to click the "read more" button below Radiance (or the blog title) to see ALL of these absolutely incredible lacquers! I promise you epicness! You ready? Great! On we go! :) //

Radiance is an apple red linear holo. I'm thinking a true Snow White poisoned apple red! It looks so seductive and dangerous - I love it! The warm undertones radiate Summer, don't you think? ;) This is 2 coats, and as every single F.U.N Lacquer the formula is amazing! :)

TGIF is a golden linear holo with added coppery glitter. This is the bonus shade of the collection :) In the sun it acts like a regular holo, but in the shade it looks almost foil-like! (Check out the 3rd photo for reference) It seems that the combination of spectraflair and fine metallic glitter creates this kind of antique metallized look! I dig it so much! This is 2 coats :)

Margarita Cocktail is a lime juice colored linear holo. Lol lime juice colored? I mean chartreuse - the color between yellow and green! It balances perfectly in between those colors, and I love it! :) Here I'm wearing 3 coats, which makes the green hues look more prominent, but if you want a more yellow appearance, just go with 2 coats :)

Mowed Meadow is a grass green linear holo. The color is really spot-on! Can you see how the color blends in with the grass on my lawn? Well besides the major blingy holographic sparkles haha! I'm wearing 2 coats :)

Starry Night of the Summer is a midnight blue linear holo! What can I say my dears - this one is so beautiful and it's my absolute favorite of the whole collection! It may be my favorite F.U.N Lacquer ever, beating Purple Crocus off the number 1 spot :) The opacity, consistency, drying time and wear time - PERFECT! This is 2 coats :)

Evening Gown is a dark purple linear holo. It's so fabulous and elegant, and the name seems so fitting! :) It does have a small resemblance to Starry Night of the Summer, but as you can see in the photos, the underlying pigments are actually quite different. It gives Evening Gown a more glamorous and warm expression in my opinion. 2 coats! :)

Uniform for Summer: Bikini is a pink linear holo. It's so sweet and flirty, and I love how it makes you look really girly :) I'm not really a girly girl, but when it comes to nail polish, I let it all out! This is a perfect example of that, because I'm in love with it! 2 single coats again :)

WARNING! :) This one stains your nails and your skin. So if you're up for a challenge, this stunning nail polish is a fair choice. Make sure to wear either 2 layers of base coat, or 1 layer of base coat plus 1 layer of fast drying top coat, before you apply this beauty. That should diminish staining to the nails - and if you stain your skin, just use the good old baking soda plus lemon juice technique and scrub away! That did the trick for me :) If you don't want to go through the trouble, then this one's probably not for you :) It will be sold as a limited edition and at a discounted price.

This was yet another swatch-athon from the incredibly charming indie brand F.U.N Lacquer :) I can't say enough how much I adore and admire Yuin Ying, I think she's so awesome and talented - and so so so sweet! I'm really happy to swatch for her :)

Polishers Inc. - Neon’tastic // Watermelon Nail Art

Hi everyone! Wow. Just wow. You may have noticed I've been kinda AWOL this past month, huh? Everything that's happening right now in my life, well it's quite overwhelming. It all gets a bit too much sometimes, don't you agree? But you know what - let me just break it to you now - it's actually okay to take a little time off once in a while if you really need it :)

Did you know that during my break I went to Italy?! Aww yeah ;) I was totally chillin' like a villain by the pool in beautiful Italy, and it was just so. fricking. great! Something didn't go as planned though - I did hope to post a certain blog post while I was on vacation, but I wasn't able to because there was no damn internetz. I KNOW, doesn’t that just sound terrifying!? Haha! But yeah, I was counting on free mobile internet from my phone company thingy, but sadly my phone was like "Nope! >:D", there was just no connection where I was staying. We went to several places with free wi-fi, but too many people were lining up in queues - they probably had the same difficulties as us - so it was nearly impossible to get on! I did manage a few times, but the connection was a big p.i.t.a, and it wouldn't even let me view photos on Instagram, my mails or load a simple website. Gah. Sorry about the ranting haha, but I was just a bit disappointed okay? :P After a few days of withdrawal symptoms lol, it was actually quite nice :) I suddenly had time to read in my book! Still, I missed you guys more than ever. <3

Anyhow, now I just have a lot of catching up to do! And in the next couple of days I'll try my best to read all your comments on my social media sites and reply to you :) That's on Instagram, Facebook and here on my blog ;)

Alright?! Ready for some new nail escapades? Let's do this :)

As you know, the first Sunday every month is the day where Polishers Inc. - the most legendary European nail art group - we do our monthly challenge :)

For the month of July our challenge theme was Neon'tastic :D I must admit I had to immediately turn to beautybay.com and buy some neon polishes, and luckily I already knew what colors I wanted to get :) Some I've been eyeing in what seems to be forever to me ;) It's actually the first time I'm trying this brand, even though it's perhaps one of the most popular ones out there - China Glaze :P The two I purchased were Flip Flop Fantasy and Kiwi Cool-Ada, and I'm using both for this easy peasy neon watermelon nail design :)

Check out the written mini tutorial below the photos :)

▲ How to do this ▲

  1. Start off with a layer of your favorite base coat and let it dry.
  2. Pick a white polish for your base color, and depending on quality and opacity you'll need 1-2 coats to have a nice background for your Neon'tastic nail art :)
  3. Your nails need to be completely dry before completing this step; place a piece of scotch tape about halfway up your nail, and paint the exposed bit with a neon coral pink polish.
  4. Now, what I did, was that I used a nail art brush* to apply the neon green polish to the remaining half of the nail - leaving a white gap between the two neon colors :) Just trace the edges of where you want the green color to be, and fill it in immediately. You'll need to repeat this step if you want a more opaque green tip :)
  5. With the same nail art brush*, I ran it through some black polish and formed the small teardrop shaped melon seeds :)
  6. Using this awesome brush again, after I rinsed it off, I dipped it into white polish and touched up the lines along the white strip.
  7. Finish of with a thick fast drying top coat, and you're good to go ;)

*The nail art brush I'm using and loving with all my heart, is the Pure Color No. 10 - I bought it from Joanna, the shop owner of @stylishnailartshop on Instagram. She's really sweet :)

If you're new to my blog, and want to see what we in Polishers Inc. have created - then check out the Facebook fan page and our Instagram profile :)

Thank you so much for reading along, I truly appreciate it! :) Leave a comment if you'd like, and I'll talk to you soon!

F.U.N Lacquer - Luxury Duo

0

Hi everyone! Today I'm presenting the Luxury Duo from F.U.N Lacquer :) And ladies... I'm swoon by these extravagant nail polishes, and I think you will be too! More thoughts plus buying info below the photos - I can't wait to show them to you! :D

Bling It On! is a silver nail polish with a striking foil effect. It contains silver flakies and gorgeous spectraflair - doesn't that just sound mouth-watering? Hahaha! Anywayyy... I wore it alone, 2 regular coats with top coat of course, and it just looks deluxe! This holographic metallic finish really stands out in the crowd, and I love that about it! :) The two first photos are taken in direct sunlight, and the last in indirect sunlight.

Pay-Day is actually not a glitter polish :) It's a mirror effect nail polish - with real Sterling silver coated flakes. Yet the color to best describe Pay-Day is platinum :) The stunning flakes you see are actually cut finer than standard shredded glitter, so we get a much smoother application. Girls, believe me when I say it's so shiny you almost need sunglasses in order to look directly at it haha! I wore 3 coats and I love how it looks on its own :) I've never seen anything like it before - and I felt everyone I passed in the shopping mall was staring at my nails! Yes of course I just had to show it off to the world! :D

Pay-Day also looks really stunning layered over other colors - I already tried it and I will show it to you on Instagram one of these days! And then I'll edit in the photo somewhere around here afterwards :)

Of course I forgot to mention that I used OPI's glitter-off base coat which allowed me to simply peel Pay-Day off my nails :) Even though it's not glitter based, it acts as though it was - so to protect your nails from soaking in polish remover, I recommend using a peel-off base coat :)

So yeah! I'm as always completely amazed by this girl Yuin Ying :) She makes these nail polishes herself by hand! I'm so so thankful I get to swatch for her :)

Polish Alcoholic - Rubiks Cube // Glitter Gradient

0

Hi everyone! Today I'm introducing a Dutch indie nail polish brand to the blog :) You have most likely already heard about it, it's called Polish Alcoholic :) The lovely Sabrina, the genius behind the brand, sent me 3 beautiful lacquers to try, and I'll be showing you one of them today. Aren't you excited!? Yeah! Let the polishing begin!

Rubiks Cube is a fun and cheerful glitter polish, named after the retro puzzle combination game :) It has glitter in the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple - all matte and square, to really resemble those on an actual Rubik's Cube. The glitter is suspended in a clear base, which makes this polish perfect for layering on top of other colors! :)

After doing some test-strokes, I found that it was pretty easy to manage and control how much glitter I wanted to go on my nails :) I decided to make a glitter gradient on top of my new favorite white creme - Angel with a leadfoot from the new OPI Ford Mustang 2014 Collection. The white base really makes the whole design look so damn cute and fun, I think! :) I'm quite happy with the result - I hope you like it too :)

I absolutely adore this happy glitter polish, it's so retro chic! Thanks Sabrina, for being such a sweetheart and such a talent! She makes these amazing lacquers herself by hand, and they're 5-free! :)

Rubiks Cube is one out of six glitter toppers from the Retro Collection, available right now!

Polishers Inc. - Inspired By Nature // Floral Nail Art

0
0
Hi everyone! It's time for another Polishers Inc. nail art challenge! This month our theme is "Inspired By Nature" and as always, I start panicking and don't know what the heck to do haha!

When the theme was set, I knew that I wanted to do floral nail art, but the inspiration part, hmm... It was nowhere to be found! After a while it just hit me - I remembered I saw this beautiful white flower in the zoo last month! I still don't know what kind of flower it was, and I can't recall in detail how it looked, but anyway I decided to try and recreate it! :)

Aiming to make the design look as delicate as the flower itself, I chose a pinkish nude color for the base :) To make the flower pop a little bit, and for fun sake just keeping it kind of cartoon-y looking, I outlined it with black acrylic paint.

This adorable nail polish is from Kiko in the number 507 Blush. Two coats, good coverage, beautiful shine and only 1.90 Euros! Having pretty polished nails doesn't necessarily have to be dead expensive. Of course there's still a big difference between discount and luxury, but what I'm trying to say is, that it isn't about just the brand, it's how you use what you've got :)

Maybe I did go a little overboard guys - huuuge Kiko haul while in Italy! HUGE! I can only say that perhaps I bought too many nail polishes *wink wink*... Maybe I should give some of them away, what do you say?

Anyway, that's it for today and I'll see you in a couple of days! Thank you so much for reading along, you know I appreciate it :) I you want, you can get in touch with me - for example if you have some questions or you'd just like to say hi :) Don't be shy to leave a comment here on my blog - or on Facebook and Instagram. I promise I don't bite! Also don't forget to check out the other girls' creations :) Tell them I sent you! ;)

Picture Polish - Blog Fest 2014

0
0
Hi everyone! I'm beyond honored to announce that this year I've been offered a spot in the Picture Polish Blog Fest 2014 event! It's a celebration of nail polish, nail art and nail passion; makers, artists and admirers - we come together and create something very special. Jules and Megs, the masterminds behind Picture Polish, they're hosting this epic party, and they handpicked all bloggers involved. They have generously provided everyone of us with a kit including 3 PP shades of their choosing, also including a really fun kind of nail art product - 'Nail Vinyls'!

This exciting project consists of two parts; part 1 is a swatch and review of a nail polish, and part 2 is a nail art look fashioned from two nail polishes and the 'Nail Vinyls'. Previously bloggers have been given free rein to create nail art using all the tools of a professional NPA. This year the rules have been changed and nail art embellishments, studs, decals, acrylic paints, dotting tools, sponges for gradients etc. were excluded, allowing just black and white polish to be used if needed. Honestly I panicked at first, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one, but then I realized this was the ultimate test to challenge everyone of us on our creativity! With such limited means, aren't you excited to see what we have come up with? Let's get started!

These were the products I received in the mail; Electric Blue, Bette, Frank-n-Furter & Right Angle 'Nail Vinyls'. Picture Polish will be retailing a special exclusive 4 pack ‘Nail Vinyls' containing Chevrons, Mini Chevrons, Straight & Right Angles, that will be used by all participants this year!

Bette is a dusty light blue scatter holo. I spy both larger holo flecks and finer holo particles, which together creates a very luxurious appearance. Fittingly, Bette falls under the category of Opulence Shades. For my manicure I used 2 coats for complete coverage, finished off with top coat.

I'm completely serious when I say I couldn't keep my eyes off of my nails. You have to see this one in person. The way the scatter holo creates a deep base for the rainbowy finer holo pigment - it looks like it's hovering! Do you see it?

This is my nail art design for the Picture Polish Blog Fest 2014. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I hope you like it too! For the base I used a clean white polish, but you can also create this design over bare natural nails for a more edgy style.

'Nail Vinyls' come with a printed tutorial on the back of the top label, and I think it's very descriptive and helpful. Me repeating the same words would be redundant, but I took some extra photos covering the process of how I created my particular design, and I think you'll find them useful as well! :)

As you can see, the Right Angle vinyls come in 4 different sizes. On my thumb I used each size of them, but for the rest of my design, I proceeded with only the second to smallest vinyls, just to keep it simple.

To make this nail art, I created a design that will look good even just by using one color, but also two, three or even more. The point for me was to come up with a design that opens up as many options for interpretation as possible - this way everyone can recreate this nail art.

The idea behind how I combined the red and blue polish, was about creating something special that both separates the colors and unites them. The main blue pattern could stand alone, but I broke it into parts by integrating diagonal lines that compliment and also interrupt the design, adding the fiery red color. I dig it! :)

Electric Blue is a dark navy creme with beautiful blue shimmer, it has that lit-from-within glow as soon as light hits the surface. Frank-n-Furter is a part of the Rocky Horror collection, it's a classic hot red creme. One of the prettiest reds I've ever seen.

That was it for the Picture Polish Blog Fest 2014! At the bottom of the blog post there's a big InLinkz link-up for all of the talented girls participating this year. Remember to check them out - maybe comment on their blog and tell them I sent you! :) I can't wait to see what they've all come up with!

F.U.N Lacquer - Princess 2.0 Collection // Part 1

0
0
Hi everyone! Do you know what time it is? It's time for another F.U.N Lacquer swatchathon! Yuin Ying has made an epic re-release of her Princess Collection from last year - the new Princess 2.0 Collection. It consists of 12 holographic nail polishes inspired by 12 Disney princesses, and amazingly enough she has created new and improved formulas for us. As an extra surprise, another princess has joined the group this year! If you don't already know who, then you'll have to wait for the final post to see the big reveal hehe :)

Neutral to Brown // Snow White, Mulan, Pocahontas & Merida

Snow White is an ultra pale off-white/grey holo. Formula-wise it's smooth and creamy, and it applies really well - just 2-3 coats does the job. The color is gorgeous, and it really makes me think of glistening snow. In the shade it looks like a classic beautiful pale grey, but when it gets true love's kiss from the sun, it comes to live and shines brighter than ever :) The holo is not so strong with this one, it's subtle and gentle, just like Snow White.

Mulan is a light beige holo. The shade is very neutral, and I think it's one of those nudes that would suit almost every skin tone. I see the resemblance between this color and Mulan's training outfit, and I think the translation is very well made - and it turned out to be so elegant and stylish. I'm pretty sure if Chanel ever released a nude holo-infused lacquer, this would be it. On that same level, the formula is excellent, it appears really delicate and velvety - 3 coats worked for me.

Pocahontas is a brown holo with luminous gold shimmer. The formula is wonderful, it applies really well and 2 coats is all you need! That glow from within, the golden sheen, is breathtaking! The base color itself is stunning, yet the addition of that dreamy shimmer is what makes me fall in love with it over and over again! Pocahontas' dress is the source of inspiration for this one - it's translated so glamorously, I can't even. This has ended up as one of my Fall favorites!

Oh how I remember proudly dressing up as Pocahontas when I was a little girl, I think I almost owned every Disney Princess outfit :) Back then I somehow tricked my older brother into wearing it too - PLUS the beautiful black wig... and luckily my mom saved the moment forever in a picture hahaha!

Merida is a reddish brown holo, it's auburn like Merida's hair! The shade is a bit more brown than what I had imagined, but I like it! I've never seen a holo in this color - it's definitely unique in my stash! Anyway, it's perfect for Fall don't you think? For me 2 coats did the job, and the application was super smooth and easy. Try this if you're Brave enough! :P

So this was the first 4 out of 12 princesses! The next 4 will fall under the category yellow to green. Are you excited? It wont be long this time around :)

F.U.N Lacquer - Princess 2.0 Collection // Part 2

Hi everyone! It's time for 'Part 2' of my epic F.U.N Lacquer swatchathon! As before mentioned: Yuin Ying has made an epic re-release of her Princess Collection from last year - the new Princess 2.0 Collection. It consists of 12 holographic nail polishes inspired by 12 Disney princesses, and amazingly enough she has created new and improved formulas for us. As an extra surprise, another princess has joined the group this year! If you don't already know who, then you'll have to wait for the final post to see the big reveal :)

Yellow to Green(-ish) // Belle, Tiana, Ariel & Jasmin

Belle is a yellow gold holo with golden shimmer. Do you remember Belle's evening gown? You know, THAT gown. I always thought it was so elegant and yet so extravagant! There is a delicacy to this shade, and the golden sheen completes the overall romantic look of this nail polish. 2 coats worked for me, formula was easy and smooth - very velvety! Love it, especially for Fall!

Tiana is a bright green holo with golden shimmer. What a beauty! I think it's a perfect translation of the notable and very pretty green tones that shows throughout the movie. The gold shimmer takes the lacquer to the next level and makes it even more amazing! I used only 2 coats - the formula was superb, and that's all :)

Ariel is a sea green holo with color-changing shimmer. The shift alters between yellow-orange-red-pink depending on which angle you look at it from, according to a light source. It mainly shows a red flash, like Ariel's hair, and it perfectly contrasts the green base color - the color of her beautiful mermaid's tail. This one was an instant favorite for me, I loved it in the bottle, and even more on my nails. 2 coats is all you need for this beauty!

Of course it even made me sing these lines from 'Part of your world':

Look at this stuff, isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?

As far as I know, these words are quite famous in the NPA universe... ;)

Jasmine is a medium-blue teal holo. I must admit now that this was the shade I was most excited for when I first glanced at all 12 bottles. It's so fashionable, the color is super stylish and modern - it just looks stunning. Thinking of Jasmine's outfit, I'd expect a more turquoise base color, but I think this one's perfect - it captured and interpreted the evolved personality of Jasmine. It's stronger, smarter and more confident :)

So this was 4 more out of 12 princesses! The remaining 4 will fall under the category pink to blue. Excited to see the new princess? Hang around here the day after tomorrow for the reveal :)

F.U.N Lacquer - Princess 2.0 Collection // Part 3

Hi everyone! It's time for 'Part 3' of my epic F.U.N Lacquer swatchathon! :) Drumroll please... It's Anna from Frozen YAY!!!

Pink to Blue // Aurora, Rapunzel, Anna & Cinderella

Aurora is a sweet pink holo. The formula is great and it applies really well - I feel like I say that about all of them, but it's true. 2 coats of Aurora and you're good to go. I really like how elegant this pink shade is - it's not like an in your face shocking pink, it's just cute and dainty! That's how I imagine Princess Aurora is like too :)

Rapunzel is a medium purple holo. It has such a beautiful vintage feel to it, and it's probably because of the slightly warm undertones - yet it still looks so modern! It's very original, and I like that. The formula is excellent, and the coverage super impressive - you only need 2 thin coats.

Anna is a periwinkle holo with radiant pink shimmer. This one is the new addition to the Disney Princess gang, and isn't it simply stunning? The base color itself is absolutely gorgeous, yet the addition of the intense pink sheen is what truly makes it magical. I really think it's a spot on translation of the beautiful, quirky and good-hearted Anna. What's even better is the superb formula, it's silky and smooth - it just applies like a dream, in 2 coats. This is maybe my favorite of the entire collection, even though I thought it would be Ariel or Jasmine. You know me: blue and green 4ever. My top 5 is at the bottom of the post :)

Cinderella is a sky blue holo. The shade is really clean and fresh, and I think it's one of those shades that will suit anyone and just always look beautiful :) Formula-wise it's so smooth and creamy, again just 2 coats does the job! It's innocent and gentle, just like Cinderella.

So this was the last 4 out of all 12 princesses! Overall an amazing collection. I think the standard is really set high this time, I keep forgetting these are actually handmade by the talented Yuin Ying. I don't know about you, but I can feel the love and hard work that's put into these lacquers, it was a genius idea to do a re-release, and it definitely payed off! These are amazing products, and I recommend you try them if you can.

If you ask me about my top picks of this collection, I almost want to say it's impossible to choose between all of these beauties. But I have chosen my top 5 and I'd really like to share it with you :) Anna, Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine & Pocahontas!

▲ Anna will be restocked on October 1st at funlacquer.com due to popular demand ▲

Hmm... You know what's missing in this majestic kingdom? A King and Queen! Drop by in a couple of days to see what the heck I'm on about :)

Firmoo Sunglasses // First Selfie // Essie Licorice

Hi everyone! Today's post is going to be slightly different than usual. First thing: I've been given the chance to review a pair of sunglasses from the massively popular optical company Firmoo. Second thing: I'm also going to show you a fragment of my face today! For the first time I'm sharing a part of me that I usually hide away, and that's a very big deal to me. Maybe it sounds ridiculous to some of you, but it genuinely means a lot to me. When that's said, I'm really happy that I'm finally ready to do it! :)

So back to Firmoo - how awesome is it that I get to try and show you other exiting things? Of course I'm not just doing this for myself; I'm also doing it for you guys! I'm letting you in on a not-so-secret secret about Firmoo! They have this amazing "get your first pair free" program that's available for all new customers who wants to try it! So if you're a little bit worried about ordering things online, this is a precious opportunity; you only need to pay for lenses and shipping.

I personally don't wear prescription glasses, but Firmoo has a very nice selection of sunglasses as well! However you can also choose regular frames without prescription for a super cute geek chic look! I almost decided to do that, but when I stumbled upon these sunglasses it was just love at first sight.

This is what I received; the glasses, a hardcase, a softcase, a cleaning cloth and a double-ended screwdriver attached to a keychain.

For this review I'm wearing my favorite black nail polish that even trumps Black Satin by Chanel - I'm talking about Licorice by Essie! This way the colors of the sunglasses really stand out, and you can compare them to a solid black base.

Okay now to the selfie. As you can see, not all of my face is visible. I'm not ready for that yet haha! This will do, and I'm so glad I've found the courage to show you the photo :)

To be honest, I didn't know what to expect before receiving the sunglasses. I was really excited, and very curious! After trying everything out, I can now confirm that Firmoo exceeded all my expectations. Compared to the low prices, what you get is amazing! This summer I actually bought my first pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses (they look totally awesome btw) and of course they're super expensive, and all I got was a hardcase and the box they came in. I applaud Firmoo for figuring out how to keep their prices low and yet the quality high. I guess that's also why they're so popular! This model, which I chose, you can find right here. The model number is: #FS1019, the color is called Tortoise(C1), and they retail for 56 USD.

I'm sad I only have one pair of glasses to show you, but nonetheless happy you actually got to see them :) I hope one day I get to try another pair from Firmoo and show them to you - maybe some with clear lenses for that geek chic look! :)

F.U.N Lacquer - King & Queen

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for the amazing response to my previous blog post - mainly on Instagram :) I have to say that it was a hard thing for me to do! I pushed my self by figuratively leaning forward - and then to avoid falling down I had to take a footstep as well! A step further in the direction I really want to go! Do you know what I mean? It’s a small push, not pressure :) That means I now feel even more empowered - especially because I also have you guys’ support! So thanks from the bottom of my heart! I feel so lucky to have the sweetest readers and followers!<3

Today I’m showing you 2 nail polishes from one of my favorite brands called King and Queen - and they're by F.U.N Lacquer. They both contain high quality holographic glitter and real sterling silver flakes! King has mainly gold glitter and Queen has silver glitter. Let’s start with Queen shall we?

Queen is like a platinum silver. It gets that metallic holographic look from the added flakes of real sterling silver. Formula-wise King and Queen are very similar; to obtain full coverage you need just 3 coats, they’re very fast drying and they actually apply super evenly! Seriously, just look at those sparkles!

King is like a platinum gold. As with Queen, King gets a super metallic holographic appearance from the real sterling silver flakes. Again, to obtain full coverage you need only 3 coats, the drying time is very fast and it applies really evenly!

To get an ultra smooth finish on both of these royals you may want to apply top coat. Lastly, for gentle removal I suggest you use a peel-off base coat; I use OPI’s glitter-off base coat, and it works for me! :)

Polish Alcoholic - Hyakutake

Hi everyone! Today I'm back with another nail polish from the Dutch 5-free indie brand Polish Alcoholic. It's a beautiful light blue polish - actually from the Summer collection - but I find it perfect for the colder months as well! Being a nail polish addict I don't limit myself in terms of which nail colors suit which seasons :) Maybe I'm biased because I'm obsessed with colors and I just can't and simply won't create unnecessary boundaries. However, I love the idea of using the seasons to actually highlight colors - it's genius! Aaalright, quite possibly going off on a tangent here! Back to polishing and stuff :)

Hyakutake is a vibrant light blue polish with silver flecks and a hint of fine green micro-shimmer. The formula is great; I find it to be very smooth despite that it's packed with all these lovely sparkly pieces. To obtain full coverage you only need 2 generous coats, and for a glossy finish just apply your favorite top coat :)

I really like this bright blue color, I think it's so cute and fresh! It's not the last time I'll be wearing this beauty. Anyway, thank you so much Sabrina for being so kind and generous! I think you're so talented :)

Teehee I just sneaked a peek and saw that Hyakutake currently is on sale on her Etsy shop!

Polish Alcoholic - Calumma

Hi everyone! Today I'm reviewing an ultrachrome top coat; another fantastic nail polish from the Dutch indie brand Polish Alcoholic. This one is extra special because it primarily consists of chromatic color-changing shimmer. It means that it changes colors depending on which angle you look at it from according to a light source. Sounds amazing right? Like, what kind of wizardry is this even? Lol! I can't wait for you to see it with your own eyes :)

Calumma - an ultrachrome top coat that ranges from turquoise all the way over to copper! Quite a wide color palette! It's meant to be layered over a dark color so we're actually able to see the magic happen :) I used 2 coats of a black polish as a clean canvas, then I just applied one single coat of Calumma on top of it and BAM! You now have an out of this world manicure! I seriously couldn't stop looking at my nails; I was constantly angling them according to light *sigh* so pretty! Anyway, be sure to seal it all in with regular top coat for ultimate shine and to keep it lasting longer :)

This was my absolute favorite out of the 3 beautiful nail polishes I was sent :) It's just so damn gorgeous! The insane color-shift is unbelievable, it looks really awesome on your nails, I can't even even!

Sabrina, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so sweet and amazing! You're so talented and a genius when it comes to inventing interesting nail polishes :) I can't wait to try more of them in the future!

La Vita è Bella - Nail Decals // Deers with flower crowns

0

Hi everyone! Today I'll be testing out some of the most beautiful water decals for nails I've ever seen. The brand is called La Vita è Bella which is Italian for "life is beautiful". Now you'd think it's an Italian brand but it's actually based in Hong Kong! They have such an amazing range of different nail decals, and I was blown away by the modern and just really simplistic, fresh and stylish designs.

Deer Head is the name of the decals I'm showing you today. I decided to use the floral version, apply and wear them as accent nails on top of Angel with a Leadfoot by OPI. Seriously, aren't they just gorgeous?

The founder Nicole reached out to me and I was so lucky to receive 3 kinds of water decals. Those were The Great Wave of Japanese Sea, Tetris and Deer Head. When I was cropping and otherwise editing my photos I noticed this tiny detail which immediately made me smile - the pointing hands on their business cards and shop logo are wearing red nail polish! So cute :)

With every order you make comes the instructions on how to apply the water decals. Follow the guide step by step like I did and you're good to go! You'll find it's actually super easy!

Because I'm a human being I do too make mistakes from time to time; I failed to place the decal on my ring finger perfectly along the tip of my nail. It could've easily been fixed with a bit of black nail polish, but I only noticed the flaw after taking my photos! Leaving it like that was so challenging, not gonna lie, but I didn't have the time to fix it and redo the photo-shoot. The thumb looks perfect though :)

Cirque Colors - The Burlesque Collection

0

Hi everyone! Did you all have a happy Halloween? I sure did; horror movie night with friends and lots of candy! I didn't dress up, but on my nails I wore a black lace design inspired by the collection I'm reviewing today - I figured it looked fairly gothic and costumey so I decided to wear it for the night :) You'll see; it's at the bottom of the post.

Today I'm introducing yet another brand to the blog. It's a brand I've been admiring and absolutely dying to try for such a long time. I'm of course talking about Cirque Colors. You can't imagine my happiness when the founder Annie contacted me and asked if I'd like to review The Burlesque Collection for Fall 2014!

The Burlesque Collection consists of 4 stunning holographic lacquers in very deep and sultry shades. The entire inspiration was drawn from vaudeville shows of the early 20th century, and it embodies the dramatic and sexy performances of strong confident women. A fascinating storyline coming together with a perfectly executed collection is truly a magical experience.

Trocadero is a midnight blue linear holo. It represents a night out on the town at the historic Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia. Of my broad collection of navy blue holos, this might be my new favorite. As stars lit up the sky on an intense and euphoric night out a mere century ago, as do the sparkles gleam in this beautiful nail polish. 2 coats.

Boudoir is a lush burgundy linear holo. Boudoir means a woman's bedroom or a small private room. Another instant favorite. The subtle shimmer will tease you into attraction and soon you'll be head over heels in love with this beauty. 2 coats.

Josephine is a forest green linear holo. It pays homage to Josephine Baker (the original twerker) and her famous banana dance performed on a stage set up like a jungle. An exotic green shade for an exotic lady. I really adore it. 2 coats.

Harlow is an antique gold linear holo. My guess is the inspiration was the Harlow Gold Show, a modern day burlesque show. As the art of burlesque has been reinvented, so has timeless gold. It has been reinvented as a holographic green-toned vintage gold shade that is truly unique. 2 coats.

Unfortunately my skin tone couldn't handle all the sultriness of Harlow. The clash between my skin and this shade of gold is very visible, but I don't care - I love it too much to care. It's too beautiful. It inspired me to do nail art, and that was the best feeling ever. I freehanded black lace on top of it with black acrylic paint using a tiny nail art brush.

I seriously can't say a single bad thing about this amazing collection! Of course the featured nail polish Harlow didn't suit my skin tone, but that's just my complexion that came in the way; Harlow is a beautiful color!! My love for the shades were strong before the whole swatchavaganza, but even stronger after! I'm ridiculously impressed, and that's why I hope one day I'll get the chance to try even more Cirque Colors nail polishes :)

The Burlesque Collection is available online at CirqueColors.com with each nail polish retailing for $13. Check out the Stockists page for retailers all around the world.

Note: All Cirque Colors nail lacquers are made in the USA, they're 3-free (YAY!) and mildly scented with a blend of essential oils that leave a light floral aroma after the polish dries.

Il Était Un Vernis - Once Upon A Time Collection (Part 1)

0
0
Hi everyone! Today I'm really excited to introduce a new indie brand called Il était un vernis :) The anticipation has been super high on my part, because the creators are two extremely talented girls who are very famous in our ever-expanding nail polish community: Bé (Bérangère) from Vernis En Folie and Stéphanie from De Tout Et De Rien.

These two girls became friends a few years ago; they met through their blogs, and after many chats about glitter, magic and nail polish they actually decided to create their own nail polish brand! It's like every NPA's dream come true! They came up with a motto: Creating colors they've never seen in their Helmer's drawers! Taking inspiration from seasonal trends in fashion, interior design and beauty - they hope to create something unique and beautiful. Today I present to you 2 polishes out of 5 from the very first Il était un vernis collection Once Upon A Time.

Light Box is a charcoal/black based jelly with scatter-holo (meaning: scattered holographic micro flakes) and larger iridescent blue flakes. The quality is really amazing! I'm so impressed - it glides on like a dream and just looks SO gorgeous! I see a lot of Bé in this polish - you know she made a collaboration shade with Picture Polish right? It's called Hope. Do you see a small resemblance? Tiny blue pops of color and sparkle. As you may know, the scatter-holo finish is my absolute favorite of all the formulas in the world, so it feels like this collection is completely taylor-made for me! :) Anyway 2 coats, that was all I needed for full opacity - you can also choose to use 1 coat over a dark base color.

Crush On Blue is a medium blue metallic scatter-holo. Yes, metallic scatter-holo!! What an awesome idea! This blue shade is so captivating; the mix of shimmer and holo flecks creates a luminous setting - like the beautiful transition at dusk, and as stars begin to appear they cast sparkles all over the sky. To be completely honest, I have no idea how Bé and Stéphanie managed to acheive such high quality for their very first collection! This is 2 coats, and it's all you need for full coverage.

Update: I'm sorry for the image quality for the Crush On Blue swatches! I have not yet invested in a proper setup with good artificial lighting, and as the Danish weather is crappy 99% of the time this time of the year, it's always a bet of luck to catch a moment with acceptable sunlight for a photo session. I tried my best to mimic light with the free photo-editing software GIMP (I'm really not a pro) and I almost didn't include the swatches in the post, but the polish is too damn gorgeous not to show off to you wonderful people :) I hope you understand!

HUGE congratulations to you girls for chasing your dream and following through! You're such an inspiration to all of us, and you give us hope that we too can do what we set our minds to!

Il était un vernis nail polishes are designed in France with love and manufactured in Australia. The polishes are 5-free which means no formaldehyde, no toluene, no DBP, no formaldehyde resin, no camphor. They are also vegan, meaning no animal based ingredients and they're not tested on animals! :)

The Once Upon A Time collection is available online at iletaitunvernis.bigcartel.com with each 12ml nail polish retailing for 12,90EUR. For a discounted price you can buy the full set for 59,90EUR. (I believe the cute pouch was limited edition)

They ship overseas with tracking YAY! Transactions are secured by Paypal and orders are sent with the French carrier La Poste.
